Evan Blass has a very unyielding track record with leaked renders, chiefly with Samsung devices in the past. Today, @evleaks tweeted a few of renders of the recently designed desktop docking station, updated in time for the release of the Samsung Galaxy S9.
The new dock, supposedly known as the “DeX Pad” is different from its predecessor in a small number of ways. The round area that the Galaxy S8 was supported in an vertical position is no more. The new design will dock the S9 in a flat position to make it simpler to use the handset’s display as a touch pad. There’s also a recently redesigned ventilation port.

The render in addition shows the ports available on the new dock: A full size HDMI port, 2 full size USB ports, & a USB-C port for power input. What is missing is the Ethernet port from the original DeX Dock. Wi-Fi is rather much a generally available commodity & the omission of the Ethernet port will not matter to the majority of people.
This is the first time we have been able to see the Galaxy S9 from a lower angle in a leak. Here, we see a novel kind of slotted speaker port & the 3.5mm headphone jack. The redesign of the speaker port may mean that we may finally see stereo loudspeakers on a Samsung flagship smartphone, which will be a welcome feature – as Samsung’s flagship loudspeakers sound average at best.
Until the Samsung DeX Pad handset is officially announced, we will be keeping you updated on all the leaks leading up to the phone’s launch by February 25th.
