Nuance Communications Discontinues Swype Keyboard

Popular keyboard for smartphones, Swype, is being discontinued. The company made this known to several users, who looked for support with different bugs. Owners of the app, Nuance Communications said Swype will cease to be updated for Android & will no longer be offered on the iOS app store.

Swype Keyboard became popular as the default keyboard on lots of Huawei devices in those days, but now Nuance is putting an end to the support & all direct-to-consumer business to focus on AI solutions for sale directly to businesses. With dropping Swype+Dragon, the firm will switch to its dictation software in vehicles & medical equipment.

There are two better alternatives available out there namely Microsoft’s SwiftKey with over 500M installs on Android & iOS and Google’s Gboard.
