Alcatel Pixi 4 Review, Spec and Price

Here’s all you need to know about the Alcatel Pixi 4 smartphone:

Design & Display

The design of the Alcatel Pixi 4 is very basic. It comes with a 4” display with soft keys underneath it with rather large icons.  With a resolution of a meager 480 x 800 pixels, the Pixi 4 has nothing much to offer, in terms of display quality but it does the job. The back of the device is made up of a plastic cover. Sure, a removable cover; something that is becoming alien in the world of smartphones these days. This gives you access to the detachable battery, SIM card & microSD slots. You definitely read that right, this little cheap phone allows storage to be exp&ed up to 32GB.

At the top of the device is a 3.5mm headphone jack & the bottom houses the microUSB port.

As for its size, the Pixi is quite small & it fits very snug in the hand. Even as the plastic cover at the back does not look very visually pleasing it isn’t slippery in the slightest & it’s super light at 150g.

Tech Specs

You are most likely intrigued as to what such a cheap smartphone can offer, so below are its technical specifications.

To me, they are the right specs for a device at this price. Might not be the highest of specs but at least you can still run apps.

If you’re thinking about taking selfies with the Alcatel Pixi 4 then forget about it. It has a VGA front-facing camera & that essentially means that it has a very minute resolution of about 640 x 480 pixels or 0.3 Megapixels. Acceptable standards for like ten years ago maybe but absolutely not today.

The rear camera, however, has a 3MP camera with flash. So, it is better but still not that great. If you need to take a pic of something, say for instance some contact details off a shop window because you cannot be bothered to note it down then that would be okay. But for images for memories? It’s a NO NO for me. It’s awfully low quality for a 2017 phone. Can you complain when the price is just for £29; at least it has a camera, Lol.

The Pixi 4 is a cheap smartphone & it without doubt performs like one too. With not even up to a gigabyte of RAM & a 1.3GHz processor, it can only do so much. So running many apps will cause a sluggish performance. It’s ok for general browsing though, and good for reading & writing emails & of course texts & phone calls. But it’s certainly not ideal for playing games & it’s doesn’t have the best display for watching videos.

Wrap Up

To me, Alcatel Pixi 4 can serve as a great spare phone that you can take out with you when you go to festivals & concerts & anywhere you might be worried about losing your more posh smartphone. That said, the Pixi 4 would be an ideal phone for people who really just want to be able to communicate with other people & has no interest in a smartphone’s fancy features. A potentially ideal phone for the older generation, students, kids, for the sole purpose of being able to make phone calls & send texts. But, of course, there’s the advantage of being able to use apps as well, if need be.
